80 percent of the bankruptcy and liquidation proceedings are launched by electronic means

Last year, 80 percent of the bankruptcy and liquidation proceedings have already been launched by electronic means at the courts throughout the country. That means a total of 95 112 cases submitted electronically, which constitutes an increase of more than 60 percent compared with the year 2017.
The High Court of Győr, the High Court of Szombathely and the High Court of Veszprém received more than 90 percent of their bankruptcy and liquidation cases electronically, which significantly exceeded the national average. In addition, another nine high courts (Budapest Environs High Court, High Court of Szolnok, High Court of Kecskemét, High Court of Szeged, High Court of Gyula, High Court of Zalaegerszeg, High Court of Tatabánya, High Court of Kaposvár, High Court of Balassagyarmat) admitted such cases by way of electronic means also at a rate higher than the national average.
The proportion of electronically launched bankruptcy and liquidation cases at the High Court of Budapest and the High Court of Szekszárd was nearly identical to the national average.
The compulsory use of electronic communication in bankruptcy proceedings was introduced on 1 January 2015, while the use of such communication in liquidation proceedings was first optional between 1 January 2015 and 30 June 2016, then became mandatory as of 1 July 2016.
