162 judges requested transfer to administrative courts

The declarations reveal that 67 judges requested transfer to the Budapest-Capital Regional Administrative Court, 18 to the Budapest Environs Regional Administrative Court, 12 to the Debrecen Regional Administrative Court, 9 to the Győr Regional Administrative Court, 8 to the Miskolc Regional Administrative Court, 8 to the Pécs Regional Administrative Court, 10 to the Szeged Regional Administrative Court, and 10 to the Veszprém Regional Administrative Court.

17 Curia (Supreme Court) judges working in the field of administrative law requested their transfers to serve in the Administrative Supreme Court next year. 3 judges sitting at the Administrative and Labor Department of the Budapest-Capital Regional Court will continue their career there as well.

120 of 225 judges working at administrative and labour courts requested their transfer to one of the regional administrative courts. Another 22 judges currently employed by the regional courts requested their transfer to the regional administrative courts.

Judges remaining at the administrative and labour courts will continue their judicial activities from 1 January 2020 at regional courts. As provided by the law, from this point on first instance hearings of labour cases shall be held at regional courts, and appeals shall be decided by the court of appeals. The preparation for these institutional changes within the ordinary court system is done by the "Transition Project" launched by court presidents and the National Office for the Judiciary.

The starting number of judges working at the Administrative Supreme Court and the regional administrative courts shall be determined by the minister of justice. Calls for applications for additional positions will be announced by 15 July 2019, applications shall be submitted to the president (to be elected until 15 June 2019) of the Administrative Supreme Court.
